Budget
A stay in Singapore can be a pleasant surprise to the pocket book. Taxi rides are affordable and public transport is downright cheap. Food lovers can indulge in local fare without regard for their budget, with hawker centres dishing out signature dishes at just dollars a plate! A simple one-plate meal at a hawker centre can start from as low as S$3. Restaurants range from budget to high-end, costing anywhere from S$6 to S$600 and up.
Hotels range anywhere from S$80 to S$500+ per night, while hostels will set you back S$20–S$40 depending on whether you want a bed in a dorm or a room to yourself. A night on the town is affordable if you refrain from buying a round for the whole bar, but it certainly pays to find out how much a drink costs before you start ordering. If you’re on a shoestring budget, your best bet for enjoying a drink or two on the cheap is to stick to local coffee shops and hawker centres.
Activities and attractions—as with everything mentioned here—vary in price, but there are many free or low-cost options. Land or water tours lasting 3–5 hours can cost between S$20 and S$50 per adult, while museum entry fees are often between S$5 and S$9 (or free!).
